The MIC will be co-located with UoB’s Health Technology Research Institute (HTRI), a new initiative whose establishment reflects the growth of collaboration between medicine, biological sciences and engineering on the Birmingham campus. UoB has two UKCRC registered clinical trials units that form the Birmingham Surgical Trials Consortium. The Diagnostics, Drugs, Devices and Biomarkers (D3B) trials team will provide expertise in early phase trials. UoB has invested £5m in a new Centre for Computational Biology, for data acquisition and cutting-edge bioinformatics. UoB also hosts the UK National Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Metrology which will support sensor technology development and industry engagement.
